With the From Studies to Work career event – now in its second year – JU aims to improve international students’ prospects of finding employment and settling in Sweden after graduation. The event was organized in collaboration with Jönköping Municipality
Among other things, the students heard from Sven Rydell, Head of Trade and Industry, Jönköping municipality, and Henrik Dahlström, CEO of the Jönköping County Chamber of Commerce, who both highlighted the job opportunities in the region after graduation and emphasized just how important the students are
Four alumni spoke about their experiences as international students and offered practical advice on everything from job hunting to the importance of learning Swedish
The attending students were given information on residence permits, healthcare, the Swedish banking system, and workplace culture. The day also featured two panel discussions
Måns Svensson, rektor på JU, talade på karriärsdagen
Måns Svensson, President at JU, who opened the career day and took part in a panel discussion. He believes that more international students should be given the opportunity to establish their careers in Sweden
“We have a great need for skilled workers in the region, and we have many talented students from other countries studying at JU. So far, we may not have fully succeeded in bringing these two aspects together, and this event is a step towards doing so,” says Måns Svensson
