Lehigh Valley career fair connects students with employers and future opportunities | Penn State University
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Penn State Lehigh Valley’s career fair brought together 33 employers and 222 attendees, including 212 Penn State students, to explore internships, full-time positions and professional connections
The event gave students an opportunity to speak directly with hiring professionals, learn about career paths and practice introducing their skills and interests to potential employers
Kellie Provost-Brown, career strategist at Penn State Lehigh Valley, said the fair helped students build career readiness through professional communication, networking and conversations about future opportunities. Several students reported that connections made during the event had already led to opportunities to interview, she said
With online job boards drawing large numbers of applicants, those personal conversations can help students distinguish themselves and begin relationships that support their career goals, according to Provost-Brown
For employers, the fair offered access to <a href="https://jiuniversity.com/how-do-university-rankings-influence-prospective-students-daily-bruin/” title=”How do university rankings influence prospective students? – Daily Bruin”>prospective interns and entry-level employees while strengthening relationships with the campus
Tracey Carbonetto, associate teaching professor of engineering, said the event also reflected the campus’s commitment to understanding regional workforce needs and connecting students’ education with opportunities to work in the area
“A career fair is a wonderful opportunity for people to talk to each other,” Carbonetto said
Faculty encouraged students to attend, while campus outreach helped connect students with participating employers. Career Services plans to follow up with students and employers to learn more about interviews, internships and hiring outcomes resulting from the fair
The event supported Penn State Lehigh Valley’s broader emphasis on helping students connect classroom learning with professional experience and prepare for opportunities after graduation
