The site in the middle of Wellington Road, Houlton Street, Elton Street and Newfoundland Way, adjacent to the River Frome in St Jude’s, was previously occupied by Staples and Nisbets
Trojan Education & Training, which has operated in one of the buildings due to be demolished since 2022 under a meanwhile-use arrangement, will have a new permanent home in the new development
Proposals from Northern Ireland-founded MRP submitted to Bristol City Council include 564 student residences and 182 flats including 39 affordable homes within the mixed-use development located in the Frome Gateway regeneration area

MRP development director, Shane McBride, said: “Houlton Street represents an exciting opportunity to bring forward a significant mixed-use regeneration scheme in a highly accessible part of Bristol city centre

“This will make a meaningful contribution to Bristol’s ongoing need for new homes and student housing.”
