PRINCETON, Ohio (WKRC) – A local school district has issued an update regarding the ongoing school bus driver strike
According to a statement issued Sunday,Princeton City Schools said limited transportation options will be available Monday as the First Student school bus driver strike continues
The district said UTS will continue operating its existing Princeton routes. Other transportation vendors will provide limited service for some students, with affected families notified directly
“Families who have not heard directly from our transportation team should plan to provide transportation for your students,” the district said in a Sunday statement
Princeton City Schools said it cannot fully replace its bus fleet but is continuing to work with transportation providers to restore service for as many students and activities as possible
The district said online learning and paper packets are available for students who cannot get to school. High school and Innovation Center students were asked to submit assignments through Google Classroom and contact teachers with questions
Elementary and middle school students must complete daily assignments and turn them in the next day they attend school, the district said
Assignments will be sent to Princeton Community Middle School students at 8:30 a.m. Monday through ClassDojo. New elementary school assignments will be distributed at 9:30 a.m. through the same platform
“We know the lack of transportation is frustrating for families,” the district said. “With mediation, we remain confident that the negotiations between First Student and the drivers’ union can be resolved fairly and quickly.”
Late on Monday, First Student issued a new statement
“First Student remains committed to reaching a fair agreement with OAPSE/AFSCME Local #184
Since the strike began, we have continued to reach out to union leadership in an effort to return to the bargaining table and move negotiations forward
First Student sent a letter to the union again <a href="https://ji<a href="https://jiuniversity.com/strong-turnout-for-rojava-university-admissions/” title=”Strong turnout for Rojava University admissions”>university.com/global-varsity-rankings-the-express-tribune/” title=”Global varsity rankings | The Express Tribune”>expressing our willingness to resume discussions and work toward an agreement. We proposed meeting on Tuesday, October 6 at 10:00AM to engage in productive negotiations and the union has accepted
We value our drivers and the important role they play in safely transporting Princeton students each day. Our goal remains the same: to reach an agreement that recognizes the work of our drivers while supporting safe, reliable transportation for the students and families of Princeton City Schools
First Student will continue working closely with the district to reduce disruption during the strike. We remain focused on maintaining safe transportation and reaching a resolution that allows our drivers to return to serving the Princeton community.”
