Penn State Schuylkill Career Fair connects students with regional employers | Penn State University
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. — More than 50 employers gathered at Penn State Schuylkill on Oct. 29 for the campus’ fall Career Fair, giving students an opportunity to connect with regional businesses, explore career paths and learn about employment and internship opportunities
Held each semester, the Career Fair brings regional employers to campus to help students build professional connections, strengthen communication and other soft skills, and discover career opportunities in Schuylkill County and beyond
For many students, the fair also offers a valuable introduction to networking and career exploration
“This was my first career fair, and I thought that it was very informational and beneficial for students to attend,” said Koera Leitzel, a first-year nursing student. “I was able to talk to local businesses and learn more about what they do and opportunities that they have.”
Fellow first-year nursing student Peyton Oertle attended with a specific goal: connecting with local health care employers to explore opportunities to gain experience while completing nursing school
“The career fair was a great way for me to directly talk with hiring companies,” Oertle said. “With the college having annual career fairs, this could help me secure an internship or post-graduation job.”
For participating employers, the event provides an opportunity to meet emerging talent and introduce students to their organizations and career opportunities
“The fall Career Fair at Penn State Schuylkill is always one of my favorites to attend on behalf of Avenues,” said Briana Horn, people operations strategic partner. “It’s great to meet the students and have the opportunity to speak with them about their future. They’re bright and full of life and always make my day.”
Penn State Schuylkill’s Career Services team offers students opportunities throughout the year to explore career options, develop professional skills and connect with employers. The semesterly Career Fair is one way the campus helps students turn their academic experiences into professional opportunities
