A study conducted by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and the Hanns Seidel Foundation from Germany, published on Sunday, highlights that European countries are not sufficiently prepared to counter drone attacks launched by Russia
Analyzing 144 incidents between August 2024 and February 2026 in 12 NATO member states and Ireland, the report emphasizes the difficulty of clearly attributing the attacks, including those on airports and military installations
The study concludes that the European defense architecture does not correspond to current threats, with inefficient detection and disproportionate response options. Klaus Holetschek, president of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, emphasized that Europe is not prepared for hybrid threats, and governments are focusing on national responses, failing to correlate incidents at the European level
